You may or may not be aware of this, but email is generally sent across the wire (the internet) in plain text unencrypted and open for surreptitious viewing. If you work in a sensitive area, where the information you transmit across the internet could have legal consequences (such as the case with medical records, law enforcement, or other litigious practice), you may want to pay particular attention to this tutorial. In this tutorial you will learn to obtain and install a certificate, trust someone and install their public key, and send that person an encrypted message.
